I’m a Scottish born and based writer-director making intimate, character-led films that inhabit the messy space between love and honesty: the ways we deflect, perform and protect ourselves when being truthful feels too difficult.

I’m drawn to emotionally vulnerable material, exploring it with lightness and playfulness through performance, humour, music and movement. My work is interested in the contradictions of human behaviour and in characters who are funny, flawed and often struggling to understand themselves. Filmmakers including Joachim Trier, Mike Mills, Mia Hansen-Løve and Éric Rohmer are important influences on my approach to intimate, personal storytelling that remains playful and cinematic.

I graduated from the MA Directing Fiction at the National Film & Television School in 2019, where I studied on scholarships from the Dewar Arts Awards and Scottish International Education Trust. Before this, I studied Digital Film & Television at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

My short films include Greylag, 45 Summers, The Deep Sleep, We Have Everywhere to Go, Everything Is Great, Pretending and, most recently, Marmalade (Good Boy). My work has screened at festivals including Glasgow Short Film Festival, and has received recognition from the Royal Television Society and Intel’s Power Your Breakthrough competition.

Alongside my own films, I have worked professionally across film production and education, including as Director’s Assistant to BAFTA-winning filmmaker Babak Anvari on the Netflix feature I Came By, and as a screenwriting and directing tutor for organisations including the National Film & Television School, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and BFI Film Academy.

I’m currently developing my debut feature, Puppy, alongside original film and television projects.
